Description:

Position Summary Workforce and Educational Opportunity is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student worker to assist the research team in conducting workforce development research projects. This part-time position provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in research methodologies, data collection, and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection: Assist in conducting quantitative and qualitative research. Ensure accurate and ethical data recording.
  • Data Entry and Management: Enter data into databases, ensure data integrity, and maintain organized records of research materials.
  • Training: Complete university-required research training.
  • Literature Review: Conduct literature and grey research reviews to support the research team in understanding the context and background of the study.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the research team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and managing communications.
  • Community Engagement: Help facilitate communication and engagement with the animal services and workforce services communities as needed, ensuring respectful and effective interactions.
  • Analysis Assistance: Support data analysis by organizing and preparing data for review by senior researchers. Assist in preliminary data analysis under supervision.
  • Report Preparation: Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation required for the project.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently enrolled as a student at Southern Utah University, preferably in a related field (e.g., Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, Public Administration, Interdisciplinary Studies, or a related discipline).
  • Skills: Proficiency in Google suite. Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, SPSS, Qualtrics) is a plus. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with community members and research team members.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Strong commitment to ethical research practices.
